The Standard Method

The Standard Method

A central tenant of RRECS involves breaking every standard into smaller chunks, called 'standard methods.' According to the RRECS Comprehensive Guide: the standard method

  • Is written in plain English.
  • Serves as the blueprint on which the standard is based.
  • Should be available for training.
  • Has been reviewed to ensure it is attainable.

Wow! Wouldn't it be swell if us rural carriers could see the standard methods?

Well too bad! We aren't privy to that information.

Trust me, I tried. I filed a FOIA (freedom of information act) request for the engineer's report. the request was denied on 3 SEPARATE accounts. I strongly considered hiring a lawyer, but I don't have the time or the resources.

So. An impossible standard, based on secret research, that they assure us is reviewed and totally attainable. Yeah, I think something is rotten in the state of Denmark.
